Why would want one want to install sabnzbd as a service? And is there a disadvantage of doing this in any way?
Ok. Well, I'm looking at this: http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/sabnzbd-as-a-windows-serviceshypike wrote:Automatically started, independent of who is logged in.
Set another location of what when using the update? The ini file?shypike wrote:You have to explicitly set a location for the INI file.
"Update" means that you can set another location.
Windows stores this info in the registry.
Yes of course.kevindd992002 wrote: Set another location of what when using the update? The ini file?
No, most goes into the INI file.If I just go ahead and install the service, it stores all current info in the registry and I don't need to change anything?
How do I let it know where the ini file is located?shypike wrote:Yes of course.kevindd992002 wrote: Set another location of what when using the update? Because the service is not bound to a user account, SABnzbd cannot store the INI file in a user profile,
therefor you must come up with a location where it can be stored.

Should it be the full path, including the ini file itself or just the directory where that ini is located? So the ini contains all the settings of sab, as in all of them?shypike wrote:Yeskevindd992002 wrote: EDIT: I see that there's a required "path" when installing sab as a service. Alright. Correct me if I'm wrong, so I just install sab as a service and specify the location of the ini file and then just overwrite it with the one I currently have to retain the settings?shypike wrote:The full path to the folder in which the INI file resides
or the full path of the INI file itself.
In the former case the file will get the standard name sabnzbd.ini
What will this do to the other files (aside from the sabnzbd.ini) in the user appdata folder?shypike wrote:Yes.
