Video files over written

I've had many video files overwritten because a new download was a larger size or better quality how can I stop this?
I would like none of my shows over written, I'd rather have SabNZBD not even look for shows if they are already downloaded.

I do have set --- Detect Duplicate Downloads - Discard
I am looking at in Special Switches overwrite_files ( off ) - should this be checked or unchecked for what I want to do?
