Synology for Idiots

Post by ratzofftoya »

Hey all,

I managed to have a good little SAB/Sickbeard/Couchpotato thing going on my PC and wanted to move it over to my Synology because it just seemed like the right thing to do. I got as far as downloading the repo, installing the requisite applications, and setting up everything on the web GUIs as normal, using the same folders I was using when the programs were on my PC. I had just started loading up my movie and show library when I noticed that Sickbeard kept getting errors in folders in which it was trying to generate an .nfo file. I got error 13, with sickbeard asking if I'm sure the folder is writeable. I've heard that these permissions issues can get pretty hairy, and I have absolutely no idea how to use SSH/Telnet and fix things. I used the synology GUI to give full r/w permissions to every user and group I could see. Please help! Let me know if you need more info.
