pointing sabscripts to a shortcut

I am on Mac osx 10.9.2 I am using the latest release version of sabnabd downloaded from the main site.
I tried to point user scripts to a folder shortcut. I need to point it at a shortcut since the version of sickbeard I am using is GIT and I want the script to update every time the program does. When I browse it does not show the folder shortcut whether I create it with the gui or with ln on the commandline (read somewhere that the gui uses mac only aliases and ln uses unix links). Both with the same result. Is there any way to get this to work? or do I need to link to the files individually with a hard link so it can't tell the difference?
