OSX - watched folders suddenly stopped watching

OSX Mavericks 10.9.2
sabnzdb 0.7.17

I've been a sabnzdb user for years on Windows and OSX and can usually fix problems without much help but this one has me perplexed.

Suddenly, without any changes to my system or sabnzdb config, my watched download folder is not working. EVERYTHING else works fine; I can add nzb files manually no problem.

I have completely removed the app and it's associated folder from:

/Users/me/Library/Application Support/

and then did a complete reinstall but the same issue persists. My watched folder is setup as

/Users/me/Downloads

Even if I use the option "scan watched folder" from the dropdown menu on my task bar is still doesn't work.

Help?

Edit:

Permissions are fine on the drive, I've tried more than one NZB file, sorting still works fine to my various destinations after starting a manually added NZB file

Edit 2:

I changed the watched folder to another drive entirely..AND IT WORKS!?!?...so for whatever reason my previously working watched folder will no longer work. Weird. I'll try emptying some stuff out of it, maybe there is a file in it that sabnzdb doesn't like? But it's my default OSX download folder that has always worked previously.

It may be useful to remove the file watched_data.sab from the Application Support folder.
(Do this when SABnzbd isn't running.)
