Sab not working through VPN

Post by Kristjan Gerhard »

Hi everyone

I've googled every perceivable combination of Ssabnzbd and vpn I can think of but haven't had any luck.

Here's the situation. In an ESXi host i'm running a Windows 8 VM with uTorrent and sab. I have a VPN account with HideMyAss and the VM has the HMA client installed. I successfully used this installation for a couple of months. With the VPN connected and both sab and uTorrent having no troubles accomplishing their tasks. In march when the sabnzbd version 0.7.17 was released i installed it. Since then sab appears to be unable to connect to my usenet provider whenever the VPN connection is enabled, if i disconnect the VPN all is well.

System info:
Sab 0.7.17 on Windows 8 via Windows installer
no skin/no 3rd party firewall
Using the "test server" feature in sab i get the following error while connected to the VPN. This test works when i disconnect the VPN. uTorrent has no problems connecting.

Any ideas?

It can be that the VPN service sets up a secondary network adapter.
SABnzbd wouldn't know which one to use,
so you might need to setup some static routing on your system.
It's a bit of a complicated matter, that might require some googling.
