Sab ok for a time then 0kb/s until restart

Had this problem from time to time in the past. Now it's too frequent to manage around. (5min to 30min tops of normal DLoads)

Im not computer savvy so I may bungle through giving enough info but Ill keep at it if you'll have patience w/me. :-[

Version: Latest on the Homepage 0.7.16 (final? I dunno.)
OS: ( Windows 7 )
Install-type: Windows exe (normal dbl click then "install?" popup)
Skin (if applicable): Default (I never changed it frm install)
Firewall Software: (AVG Anti Vir free)
Are you using IPV6? No idea what that is but going with the "most likely no" suggested in the "getting help" post
Is the issue reproducible? Yes but the run times differ each time. 3 minutes then 0kb/s, next time might DL for 10-15min before same behavior

It boots up and runs normal (at normal DL speeds) and fine for 5 or so minutes then suddenly the dl speed starts crashing until it reaches 0kb/s. It stays at 0kb/s infinitely.

I've run speed test during and right after this phase and it runs fine and shows my usual speeds.

I've also done "test connect server" in Sabnzdb and I get a "connection successful" popup. I only have the one provider (w/a US and Eur servers) to check though.

This behavior happens over a range of nzbs. I've tried all shapes and sizes (large, small, etc) and cleared the que and started anew to see if on particular DLoad was causing the issue. No rhyme or reason that I can see, Happens during starts, middles, ends, all over many different download types/jobs.

A restart of Sabnzbd will start the normalcy cycle running again (high speeds return) but it will invariably zero out again after no longer than 15min.

I've tried machine reboots and full shutdowns but it's the same resetting of the normalcy cycle just as the Sab "restart" function.

I stayed up all night trying to get it right so hopefully I don't have to babysit it so intensely. It is not functional enough to DL when I am away from the machine (sleep, etc) as it currently stands. :-[

Again, sorry if I missed some key bit of info I needed to share. Im very new to all of this and look forward to learning.

Sorry for keeping you awake.
What you describe is never reported for regular Windows system (which doesn't mean it cannot happen).
You could try a full queue repair (Status page).

Does it ever resume on its own?
Are you using commercial firewall software?
Did you tell your virus scanner to skip SABnzbd's incomplete folder.

No worries. You had nothing to do w/sleeplessness. I was just dedicated to fixing the problem. Thanks for the concern though. :-)

I didn't have much in queue so after babysitting it through the one job, I went ahead and cleared everything, even the install.

Set it up all fresh, turned off my AV and just watched it.

It had similar behavior, though in my mind I got longer runs (30-45 mins)

No commercial firewall. Checked and rechecked WinFirewall and that Sab is considered safe on all types of network connections. (home, priv, public)

I feel like I took the Avir out of the equation by turning it all off.

I just can't get Sab to stay DL @ normalish speeds. 30-45min and it goes to 0kb/s. The program is still running I think (I can close the interface then reopen it as if all is normal) but no DL traffic.

As for resuming on its own, I waited out 1hour and 1/2 and it hadn't. Might it ever? Unsure. But nearing 2 hours of lost DL time I had to cut losses.

A quick retart of Sab has it going again, I set up a bunch of scheduled restarts to get me through a needed DLoad but obviously its at the very least not ideal going forward.

Thanks for the help.

M

With a sufficient number of users there will always be a number
of unexplainabe cases of failure.
I'm afraid that I'm out of suggestions :(
BTW which Usenet provider are you using? Is it Astraweb?
