A few problems.

Hi all.

I am new to sabnzbd and have only been using it since yesterday. I've noticed a few problems that I hope you can help with.
Firstly, if I try to shutdown sabnzbd I just get "Initiating shutdown..." but it doesn't actually shutdown.  ???

Another question I have is that I still have a few folders/files in my incomplete folder even though they downloaded many hours ago - why is this, did they fail or something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Platform? Windows? Mac? Linux?
Did you look at warnings and/or errors?
What does the History page tell you?

Sorry I didn't provide enough info.

Windows Vista 64bit

History page is saying out of servers retention and "Not enough repair blocks left (have: 0, need: 2413)" on one of the failed files.

This probably means that the thing you try to download is no longer present on the
news provider you use.
How old is the post and how long is the average retention time of your news provider?

Yeah the post was > 200 days and the retention time of my news provider is ~160days. :( They are meant to be increasing it soon though.

Do you know what "Not enough repair blocks left (have: 0, need: 2413)" means?

Thanks for your help so far.  :)

It means what it says. If you had 2413 repair blocks (Pars) you'd be able to repair the set. You have zero, so it failed.
