Quesiton

is there any way to check if a download is valid or if it passes verification before it is download by Sabnzbd? Often, large files, 5 gigs or larger are download to fail decompression or verification. These downloads are flagged in couch potato as bad and then one needs to download another version.

thanks

No, the download pre-check can only check to see whether enough articles are present.
However, some Usenet providers (Astraweb most notably) replace removed articles by fake ones.
The best way is to enable "Abort downloads that cannot be completed".
Usually this will flag a bad download within the first 20% of downloading.
It will not flag fringe cases (at least not in time).

Thank Shypike - that is better than not having anything at all.
