Repair/Extract Hung

Hi,

I've had a couple issues recently where a single item in the Repair/Extract queue has completely stopped the repair/extract process, in most cases I can reboot SAB and it will start up again, a minor inconvenience as it's running on a headless server, but not a major issue. The SAB process is running on Linux (unRAID 4.4 running off of Slackware 12.1).

Yesterday it completely stopped teh repair and extract and I had to wipe out the entire queue and start downloading the items again, but today it was just a matter of restarting the SAB process.

I'm running SAB 0.4.6 and this usually seems to occur on larger downloads when fetching additional repair blocks.

Please let me know if you need anything else, looks like the last 4 logs files could be relevant as they were all modified today about the time the downloads started, but that amounts to 20MB of files, so please let me know if you need them and where to send them and I'll get them to you.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Repair is done by the standard external par2 utility.
If the hangup occurs in that program, there's nothing we can do.
I must say that par2 has very good stability reputation, except when you have intermittent memory problems.
Also be aware that some repair jobs seem to take forever.

I run SABnzbd on an old Pentium-III box.
Sometimes download takes an hour, but repair 4-5 hours.

BTW, do you use the "classic" par2 or the newer multi-core one from chuchusoft?

I'm using the multi-core par2 utility (AMD 3800+ x2). The reason I bring this up is that it stalls when SAB is reporting it is grabbing additional blocks, last time it was 13 blocks and just stalled, rebooted SAB and all was fine. Today SAB was just sitty there with the ajax-ish wheel spinning, but everything had already been par'd and unrar'd. I restarted SAB and it came up saying download failed - Out of your servers retention? The file was extracted and waiting to be played (renamed even), the email that was sent with the job completion said the job had failed (subject), but in the body said Verified in 2.5s, all files correct, Unpacked 1 file in 22.9s and then deleted 13 files

Something happened with SAB on the final delete by looking at the GUI only (same number of steps taken for this download and the previous download, but this one stalled).

Thanks,

Mark

Which skin do you use?
The Ajax-wheel is not in "Default".

Using the Plush skin - I don't know if its actually AJAX, but it has the look of a typical Ajax "loading wheel".

Could you try the Default or Smpl skin for some time?
Just so see if it isn't a skin problem?

I've switched to smpl - I'll keep an eye on it and post back my results.

I tested smpl for a number of days and didn't have a problem...missed having Plush though... I also didn't download any big "Season Packs" of shows during that time, which may account for it working properly. I've since been testing out one of the latest trunk versions and haven't had the issue there either. Thanks for the suggestions, but it appears as this may be related to the download itself (or how its handled externally, as you suggested).

Thanks again.
