Sabnzbd Synology and Ubuntu

On a recent install of Sabnzbd on Ubuntu server saving files to a Synology NAS I had some issues and I thought I would share. After a lot of searching I couldn't find anyone having the same problem as me so I thought it would be good info. Long story short:
Created a user on the Synology named sickbeard and one on Ubuntu also named sickbeard. When Sabnzbd created filed on the NAS they had permissions of 722 and despite having matching usernames and passwords it couldn't read it's own file. The problem was that the UID's didn't match. 1033 on the Synology and 1000 on Ubunutu. The fix was the change the UID on Ubuntu in /etc/passwd, then restart and chmod -R sickbeard /home restoring permissions.
I hate to admit that it took me far longer to figure this out than it should of. I hope this post will save others some time and effort.
I also made a quick blog post about with a little more detail
