Help with obfuscated filename

Hi there, not sure really where to go with this, but was hoping someone here might be able to help me out...

I recently downloaded something with obfuscated filenames that had 10 blocks missing through Sabnzbd. Since Sab was unable to process, I tried quickpar to see if I could restore the missing info from the pars just to make sure. Unfortunately I clicked the rename button thinking repair was possible when it was not. Now all my files were renamed to the proper rar archive without a chance to repair, but I don't know which blocks I should try redownloading to prevent me from having to download the entire thing again...

Is there any way I can find out the original filenames from the now renamed rar files so that I can determine which blocks are actually missing and manually select and create a new nzb for them so I can attempt to download only those parts?
I'm capped with a download limit, so avoiding a complete re-download is kind of crucial to me.

Thx in advance!!

This is almost impossible.
The par2 files contain the expected names.
The par2 program determines from the checksums of a file, which file from the par2-file is a match.
Doing this manually is just too hard.
BTW: the fact that you repair failed suggests that the post is just not complete.
Chances are that a second attempt will also fail.

Hi shypike, thx for the quick, yet dissapointing, reply!!! ;)
I was hoping for some form of reverse hash that could get me the original filenames, but no joy then.
Along with the download came an sfv file which contained the checksums and I was hoping I could use those to reverse it.

I have been able to restore some incomplete downloads in the past by redownloading missing blocks though even when I expected the opposite. Don't know why or how they downloaded when they didn't when the full package was selected, but as long as you don't make the mistake I did by renaming before it's complete, it's worth a shot to try. Especially if you're antagonisignly close to a complete download as is the case here with over 45GB downloaded...

When you have an SFV file, you can use an SFV tool to match the files.
Still quite a bit of work, but doable.

Since I'm not well versed in this domain and first looks into the matter don't reveal much more than some SFV checker tools, care to enlighten me as to which tools I might try out (Windows based... sorry...)? Not sure I'll be able to master it, but am willing to give it a try! ;)

I've also had a look at the Sab log to see if it gave me any details as to which blocks were not downloaded. I identified several where it had trouble finding the articles for that block but when I tried downloading that block again seperately last night it came in just fine. However, the resulting rar file was not one of the missing ones.... strange...

Use the trial version of Total Commander.
It can generate a new SFV for a folder, you can them match that with the original SFV.
