Segmentation Faults [Linux]

[merlin87]

Moved sabnzdbplus and sickbeard to a linux box from Windows but can't get Sabnzbplus to stay running as it always stops do to segmentation fault errors no issues with Sicbkbeard is just does its thing. I have gone through several methods of installing it and manually installed all the various dependencies but still anywhere from a few seconds to minutes after start Sabnzbdplus stop due to a segmentation fault error. Any help or guidance on this issue as to what could be causing ?

SABnzbd is a lot heavier than SickBeard.
We're completely depending on the quality of a lot of parts of a Linux platform.
Python, yenc-module, SSL libraries, par2cmdline, unrar and a bunch of other stuff.
When Python apps crash, 99% of time it signals a bug in the run-time system.
I know that some Linux distros have their stack levels too low.
Check in our Linux forum about a solution for that.

Does it still happen if you only Download, and no repair nor unpack? If the problem does not occur then: what happens when you manually repair and unpack? Maybe the problem is in par2 or unrar?

So i have changed my settings to not use ssl for my usenet connection and the admin portal, also i have unchecked all the post processing and queue options in sabnzbd. However, after all that and restarting sabnabzd i am still getting segmentation faults. Any other ideals on things to change or turn off in order to hunt down the root cause? Thanks!

Can you see in which phase the segfault happens? During donwloading, during unpacking, during idle?

I would do this:
- run memtest86 from the grub boot menu for an hour
- live-boot Ubuntu 12.04 from a persistent USB-stick, install sabnzbdplus, do a download and see what that results in. If you need more space, you can your harddisk from the the live-boot

Memtest86 ran for three hours tell 100% passed, no errors.

Havens done the live-boot part yet, but as far as what phase i have seen Sabnzbd stop/crash at is during download and or unpacking. If i disable my Usenet servers within sadnab, it will stay running without error or fault. Hopefully i'll be able to try out the live-boot suggestion later tonight.
