Hi all,

I have been using sab/usenet-news.net for a couple of years now, Im not to advanced with it, but understand all the basics and have never had too many problems with it until now!

I have just moved to a new flat, about 20 miles from my last. i have an internet connection set up and its all good. apart from i can only get maximum speeds of download of 6-8 kbps. Its driving me mad trying to find a resolution!! If i d/l from say, itunes store or anything else its as fast as i would expect, speedtest.net is reporting 6.2Mbps.

I normally buy block accounts from usenet-news.net, but have even bought one from astraweb too, only to see if it made a difference, but its just the same.

can anyone out there help?

I have the same problem, I've been using sabnzbd for quite a while now but since about one week it's just using about 20% of the available bandwith of my speed (2.8 Mb/sec instead 11 Mb/s). It used to download with 11 Mb/s before. I installed the latest version already.

I started to download one of the above linked files, same result.

Does anybody have an idea what this can be?

i have the file, and the stats given were:

28 mins, at an ave of 20 kbps, with 458 missing articals.

dose this tell anything?

You get that with the "bigrandomfile"?! That is bad. As speedtest.net is reporting 6.2Mbps, I can only think of a very, very bad newsserver. But at the same that is not very likely.

You could - as a reference - download and install NZBget and download the same NZB (with the samer server settings) with that.

Yeah! its super frustrating!,

Trying NZBget as i type, its not looking good tho, tried bigrandomfile and another, but i kept giving me the error code 10060, through the messages window, and saying cancelling hanging downloads?

dose this help anything, im sure there can be a solution to this! Dose the server im using from usenet-news make a difference?

If you only changed location, and not the news provider, that shouldn't matter.

Wait: "error code 10060"?! You didn't say that. That's bad. Could be a firewall, bad (wifi) connection, bad / overloaded router, too many connections, etc

Im thinking it could be router, its the only vairable thats changed. its an ee brightbox, but im connected through Ethernet cable? when you say too many connections, is there a way i can check this?

Yes: the number of connections in SABnzbd to the newsserver. Lower that to 1 and try again.

I assume any changes would be seen immediately?

i still think its odd that i can stream media perfectly? i have turned off any firewalls im aware of. what else do you recommend that could help?

Indeed.

Finaly i have a bit of speed,

I lowed all my connections, running on around 7, quit any firewalls, and changed a server from Use-net news, and now im averaging around, 750kbps, its not brilliant, but its usable!
