Question about Host Server and Username/Password

Post by Gonecat »

I have the latest SAB installed and running.
I have a valid newzbin acct.  I have credit on account.
I have entered in all info I could find from tutorials and faqs.

I am able to post an ID and the file shows up under the Queue.
It retrieves the name of the file to download, but doesn't download it (just sits there).

Regarding the Config-Servers page of SAB, I am not sure what the story is on the Host name, which I believe is news-server.san.rr.com  (I am with TimeWarner cable in Los Angeles).  What username and password would i use here or am I off on this?  (i am using my SAB username and password).

Here is one of the warnings i'm getting:

2008-12-29 21:52:17,743 ERROR [newswrapper] Failed to connect: (10060, 'Operation timed out') 8@news-server.socal.rr.com:119

Version: 0.4.6 (just downloaded it)
OS: (Windows XP SP2)
Install-type: (Windows Installer)
Firewall Software: (XP SP2 Firewall)
Are you using IPV6? (no)
Is the issue reproducible? (yes)

Thanks a lot for any and all help...

Time Warner does not have a usenet server anymore, they closed it a number of months back.

You will have to buy access from a premium provider such as Giganews or Astraweb.

Thanks a lot for your response!

Ok, got Giganews acct with SSL.

When i check "SSL" on the config-server page, the downloads don't work.  When i 'uncheck' the SSL box, it DOES download.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again

Use port 443 or 563 for SSL connections.
