Constant repeating spikes in CPU usage (windows)

Hi guys,
Basically my sabnzbd service instance on windows, is repeatedly (every 4 or 5 seconds) spiking its CPU usage up to about 80%. With a little bit of digging, I've discovered it's essentially reading the history1.db file each time, which is now 11mb.
Is there any way to handle/mitigate this without clearing the history? It's not really the end of the world if necessary, just will lose a bunch of useful information.
Thanks,
Adam.
