SAB not reading watch folder...

Hey all
I have been using SAB for ages now running on a Windoze box. I have now installed Ubuntu and am trying to replicate every over.
I have installed SAB and got it running as a service, and all is well expect for the fact it won't pick up NZBs from my blackhole watch folder. I have multiple machines and multiple users, so have the watch folder on a NAS share. I have tried as many different path combinations as I can, and even gone through the browse button to give it the location, but it still refuses to pick up anything from the watch folder.
All folders are relative to /home/[user]
I have tried...
smb:/skynet@192.168.1.201/nzbs/watched
/home/skynet/smb:/skynet@192.168.1.201/nzbs/watched
~/home/skynet/smb:/skynet@192.168.1.201/nzbs/watched
And still nothing. I'm new to Linux, so am happy to admit if I have missed anything obvious.
My stats are...
Version 0.7.14
OS Ubuntu Precise 12.04 LTS
Installed via command line apt-get as per instructions
Skin Plush Gold
Firewall software is none/or factory standard on Ubuntu, Avast on windows machines accessing the interface
IPV4
Any help would be much appriciated....I'd hate to have to revert to windows now I've been able to pull myself away! ;-)
