I possibly found at least 1 issue why Sabnzbd is using so much CPU.
My issue was: NZBStatus+ plugin for Mozilla Firefox
However i'm not gonna figure out what the exact issue is, i thought i had to share this.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

It could be that the plugin is querying at a too high a rate.
SABnzbd's design is such that it can be easily overloaded with API calls.
Especially ones that request lots of queue data.
