Cannot maintain max speed - not throttling?

Greetings!

I am having trouble with maintaining my maximum download rate using sabnzbd. I have a 50MB/s connection with Comcast, and speed tests show between 50 & 55MB/s speeds. When I launch Sabnzbd, I immediately get rates of 4.4MB/s with 20 connections specified, but after about 2 min the speed declines to 1.4MB/s, and remains there. If I reboot sabnzbd the speed jumps back up to 4.4MB/s for another 2 min or so... I originally suspected throttling by my ISP but I don't think throttling makes sense if I can restore the speed with a quick restart of the app... does that make sense?

Here are a few of my configuration settings:

Host : Astraweb
Connections: 20 (max: 20, although I've tried less without success)
Port: 443 - SSL enabled
Download Speed Limit: 0
Article Cache Limit: -1 (I've tried 200M and up to 1500M)
Random_Server_IP: 1 (tried 0 and 1 - no difference.)

Running Windows 7 64 BIT W/8GB off RAM on a Dual Core i5 3.0 ghz processor.
Windows 7 firewall disabled
Netgear WNDR3700_v3
Motorola Surfboard 6121 modem

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Bits per second versus bytes per seconds.
SABnzbd shows you the actual bytes per second, while you ISP likes to advertise its speed in bits/second.

@shypike Thanks for the response. Based on my 50MB/s connection, I should get about 4.5MB/s shown in Sabnzbd, right? Well, what's happening is after a few minutes of 4.5MB/s the connection slows to 1.3 MB/s, which is considerably less.

If you think it is NOT throttling by your ISP Comcast, try another Usenet program (NNTPgrab, grabit, nzbget), and check which speeds it gets.

sorry to bring up old but i had this problem and i fixed it by having the temp folder on a separate drive from the completed folder.

also on a 50 mb line from comcast you should be pulling at least 6.6MB down..i do that with a wireless connection with only 10 connects.

I changed the Temp Folder on a seperate drive and I am still having an issue. Does any one else have a different solution?
