SAB saying downloads complete when they definitely are not

I am running SABnzbd 0.7.11 on a Ubuntu 12.04 Linux machine with a locally installed newznab+ for my indexer. Lately, like since updating from 0.6.5 to 0.7.11, SAB has been telling me that some downloads are complete when there are many articles missing and the download is definitely not complete. When I expand the "completed" download it looks like this example:
- (name of show)2012 BDRip XviD-SPARKS cp(real IMDB id) 2MB Completed X
Completed at 09:08:54 on Saturday 27 April 2013
Download:
Downloaded in 1 minute 47 seconds at an average of 22 KB/s
1012 articles were missing
Source:
(name of show).2012.BDRip.XviD-SPARKS.cp(real IMDB id).nzb
Category:
movies
Path:
/home/twoblues/Videos/Sabnzbd+/Complete/Movies/(name of show)2012 BDRip XviD-SPARKS cp(real IMDB id)
When I look in the Path: for the show there are only parts r04, r06, and r18 of the rar file such as:
Code: Select all
sparks.tgt2012-xvid.r04
sparks.tgt2012-xvid.r06
sparks.tgt2012-xvid.r18
I realize that this is probably either a takedown or my local newznab indexer may have screwed something up, but in either case I don't think SAB should be telling me the download is complete. I don't think my newznab messed this up because while the download was supposedly going on I expanded the entry and all of the rar parts and pars were listed. The download only shows 2MB but the nzb shows 814MB.
Am I right in thinking there is a problem here?
Thanks,
X

If the NZB doesn't cause par2 files to be downloaded, then SABnzbd will not be able to verify the files.
It will just pass the RAR files to unrar and let that program decide.

I'm getting this exact same problem, running the latest SAB on a Mac Mini running Mountain Lion.
Has happened with multiple nzbs from various indexing sites. Brand new nzbs like Game of Thrones and older ones like Mad Men.
Any clues?

You are aware that GoT holds the current record of fastest takedown?

I'm sure it does, but that doesn't account for SAB's behaviour. It even says in the logs, post download that x-amount of blocks are missing, but it still counts it as a completed download, and it still attempts to post-process the measly 6 rar files it's downloaded. It doesn't really make sense.

It attempts post-processing because no par2 files are downloaded, giving it the benefit of the doubt.
If you enable the "Abort jobs that cannot be completed" option in Config->Switches, it will be flagged as a failed download.

Well, interestingly enough, it does download par2 files. I'll have the folder containing say 10 out of 30 rar files plus the par2.
SAB will have considered it completed and tried to post-process it.
This is happening with an awful lot of files - it happened with every episode of Mad Men S02 I tried to get. On the indexing sites, there were no comments suggesting any take downs or that the files were bad.
I'm using Supernews, by the way. Supposedly 100% completion (although this is probably just marketing spiel)
Maybe this is just the beginning of the end for Usenet...

par2 files can be damaged to the extent that they are no longer recognized as such.
Personally I don't recognize a rapid deterioration of Usenet, although there is more junk.
It helps if you're fast, early uploads are usually the real thing.

I have had a similar issue with Movies, when I check my "library/downloads/complete/movies/(name of movie)/" folders they are often completely empty, I can understand some of the older movies like the back to the future and star wars movies, but I cannot understand why it says complete when it obviously did not download anything.

Don't look just at the folder. What does the download report in the History say?

I'll get back to you on that, I'll have to restart one of the downloads that keeps doing this. I will edit this post when I have a report to readout.
