Hi,

For about a week now most files I try to download fail. When the browser window opens up and the file begins to download, I hit refresh and the download time jumps between 3 and 400 hours remaining, the file appears to be downloading very fast but when I check my downloads folder it isn't actually downloading anything. It then fails and says "Download failed: out of your servers retention?" The nzb in question is only a few days old and many others have grabbed it so it can't be a problem with that can it?
It doesn't happen on every file, I've got 1 or 2 that have come down fine. I'm on OSX 10.8.2 and have the latest version of SABNZB. The last time this happened I googled around and found something that said to delete the invisible admin files with an app called Houdini. I've tried that and re-installed sabnzb but no joy. I'm not very clued up on this nzb thing so I've tried to give as much info as I can and hope someone can help! Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sander. So does a DMCA mean my ISP is blocking it? As I have seen over 800 users, and counting have got the file in question? Strange as I have just got the next episode in that series. I'm purchasing a VPN today, will that help? Thanks.

No, it means the newsserver provider has removed it from the newsserver
800 users: they might have another newsserver provider, or they downloaded it before it was removed
DMCA takedowns happen typically one day or so after an episode has been uploaded. So, if you're there fast, you can still download it
No, a VPN won't help. Best remedy: download it within an hour after it has been posted.

Sorry to tag onto this post, but this seems relevant.
Are files taken down by DMCA's reflected on binsearch's "parts available" field? And when files are taken down are they taken down from particular usenet providers, or is it when a file's taken down it's down for everyone regardless of which usenet provider they use?

Takedowns are done per provider.
However, there are only a few backbone providers and many resellers.
