[solved] pa2.exe 100% Disk Usage

Hi guys,
Been trying to find a fix for this.
The process is set to the lowest priority in task manager and I've set '-t0' in par2 parameters. I get the usage for repair and then extract with the extraction process.
I read somewhere about setting antivirus not to scan the incomplete and complete folders but this seems a bit risky as you cant always be 100% sure about a file being clean before download.
This has only started happened receently and I dont know why :S Running the latest version.
Can I limit the process to say 60% for I/O?
Its making my computer unusable
Thanks,
Max

Windows is notoriously weak in not having any usable method of preventing
a single task from saturating the disk channel.
Virus scanning "incomplete" serves no useful purpose.

Thats true, I'll add it into exceptions.
It turns out the disk usage problem may not be totally from sab, windows is doing something weird :S Processes not showing up in task manager but using everything i have

thanks for your reply though!

Hey again,
So I've been doing loads of searching and I thought it may have been another process but it turns out it is sab.
I have tried using the -t- parameter that I read about in another thread but that doesnt seem to help. Also tried -t0 but again no difference.
The computer is completely useless at anything else until the par2.exe process is finished

I dont have this problem with newznab but it lacks the awesome webui of sab.
Any ideas?

I'm not surprised, newznab doesn't run par2, because it's an indexer and not a download program like SABnzbd.
Try disabling multi-par by disabling Config->Special->par2_multicore
I'm not sure if it helps, but it's worth a try.

I'm sorry! It's been a really long day - I didn't mean to write newznab, I meant newsleecher!
Disabling multicore doesnt really seem to make a difference, as its still a fairly powerful cpu.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I think I only just found the answer today!
My page file was only 710mb, microsoft recommend setting the minimum to your amount of ram, so I have 4GB - 4096mb, and the maximum as double this for all drives, 8192mb. This seems to have fully solved the problem for me. Will let you know if it comes back.
