first things first:

Version: 0.4.4
OS: vista
Install-type: no clue
Skin (if applicable): default
Firewall Software: none
Are you using IPV6? don't know
Is the issue reproducible? don't know

Once I add an id it shows up in the queue but gets stuck at "fetching msgid ..... from newzbin" . It just started today, i have about 6 ids in the queue that show up fine and one dling, the others that i added (about 4) all show up with the same message. also, the download speed has recently become very slow, i am downloading at 118k/s.

here are the logs from the connection tab:

2008-10-17 12:23:27,920 WARNING [downloader] Thread 9@news.usenetserver.com:3128: failed to initialize

2008-10-17 12:23:30,928 ERROR [downloader] Failed to initialize 1@news.usenetserver.com
...and continues like so

I use the news.usenetserver and i have the port set to 3128 but sometimes switch to 119, i don't know if this makes any difference

i did not have anything to do with the settings, a friend did them and i'm starting to realize most of what he said/did wasn't right. any help would be appreciated

Could be a number of things. Since you are getting connection warnings for your provider, and trouble contacting newzbin it is possible your ISP's fault or a problem with your local network.

I assume your account allows SSL, try changing your server details to:
host: secure.usenetserver.com
port: 443
ssl: ticked
backup server: leave unticked
connections: 10 (or 20 if you have the "UNS HI-SPEED PLUS" account)

i changed the server details, it doesn't seem to have changed anything other than now there are no warnings. the one id is still dling at 120k/s and there are a few queued and then the others still say "fetching msgid....". i am currently using "dsl-lite" but i have never had problems downloading on this network before. Also, my web server settings are set to host: localhost and post: 8084  are these the correct settings?

Yes, those last settings should be fine.

I recommend waiting a while to see if the problem sorts itself out, either from your ISP or local network. Restarting sabnzbd may jump start those "fetching msgid..." queue items.

I have restarted, paused and resumed, done everything. I now have five warnings:

2008-10-17 13:53:10,036::WARNING::[downloader] Thread 5@secure.usenetserver.com:443: timed out
2008-10-17 14:02:02,540::WARNING::[downloader] Thread 7@secure.usenetserver.com:443: timed out
2008-10-17 14:08:42,785::WARNING::[downloader] Thread 3@secure.usenetserver.com:443: timed out
2008-10-17 14:10:33,911::WARNING::[downloader] Thread 6@secure.usenetserver.com:443: timed out
2008-10-17 14:10:48,467::WARNING::[downloader] Thread 10@secure.usenetserver.com:443: timed out

Could this be caused by the web server settings or is it definitely my internet connection?

If the "ssl" checkbox IS checked, then it looks to be an internet problem.

it is checked and that's fine, i can use a different network. once i switch to the high speed dsl network will i need to change my server settings back to news.usenetserver port 119 etc?
