notififactions via XMPP

To the notifications options , /sabnzbd/config/notify/ , add XMPP option. This does not require installing an XMPP server (like prosody,openfire,tigase,m-link,ejabberd).
Ubuntu/mint/arch have packages to send XMPP messages (without OTR) as likely do other distros. There are likely command line packages for osx/windows.

XMPP is not an "alternative" to growl- or OSD. It is a one-to-one or one-to-many text communication protocol. As all my internet capable devices run an XMPP client on login this would be immensely useful. The default for an XMPP server is to send the message to the highest priority resource, but it could be configured to send the message to every resource. (One can login to a single Jabber ID multiple times (locations) simultaneously)

M2Crypto provides SSL, but I'm not aware of OTR negotiation options. I am aware of notify.io (requires gmail, not ok), webhooks like frozencow's gtalk bot ( /frozencow.appspot.com , again google not ok ), and even PubSubHubBub, but for the purpose it seems better that xmpp messages be generated on the machine where sabnzbd+ runs. Growl to XMPP seems like needless complexity.
for the privacy minded or OTR curious

(those sending text via sms should consider abandoning ancient, slow, expensive tech in favor of text via xmpp)
try a secure interweb flavor

try an insecure albeit shiny interweb flavor (insecure: not OTR capable)
