Auto updating python vs EXE

Hello, Recently I reinstalled my computer from Win 7 to Win 8 and I use to use the exe versions of SAB, Sickbeard, Couchpotato and Headphones.
I recently Discovered LazyLibrarian which is python only and I remember reading somehwere the python source is more regularly updated then the exe's.
I also remember someone mentioning that you can setup the python installs to auto update right off github or googlecode or whatever the host is.
Now my question is what do you recommend I should use EXE's or Auto updating Python? (considering my exe setup runs perfectly fine and just needs to be copied)
Also could someone point me to a guide or give me instructions for auto updating python IF it is a preferred method over EXE's
Thanks In advance.
