Hi,

Today I had a download that according to SABnzbd had failed. It had missed 563 data blocks (all 28 files).
Later, when I ran QuicPar, it turned out that the downloaded file names were not identical to the ones in the
par2 file list and it suggested to rename those file names, which it did. After that unpacking was a breeze.

Doesn't SABnzbd have support to rename file names when it turns out they're not identical to the ones in the
par2 file list? Sure, I know, I can always run QuickPar whenever this happens, but I'd like it to go automatic.

There are so many ways that posters can mess up their posts, that we simply cannot cover all cases.
For 0.8.0 we have planned some improvements though.
The problem is that "simple" solutions will increase the checking time for
most posts, which isn't something people want either.

You could maybe make it an option to check/uncheck in case you want a more thorough par check or not?
In the log I did see that SABnzbd knew what file names it was expecting, so renaming shouldn't be a problem, I think?
Either way, I'm curious what you come up with for 0.8.0. Thanks in advance.

I ran into some of these NZB sets also but I was not able to get SABNZBd to unpack them...

I ran QuickPar to repair/rename the files then had SAB retry but the sets just sit in the queue and show the size as double...

The sets did unpack fine manually.

If you repair manually, you should also repair manually.
Unfortunately there are some careless posters around.
We're looking for a future solution.

It's not so much that they're careless, it's to avoid or at least delay DMCA.
But I sure hope you can find a solution for this "problem".

Well, from file name alone they can't decipher what series/movie it is. If it actually has effect? Don't know.

FWIW I'm having the same issue on a couple posts. QuickPar recognizes the rar set needs to be renamed. As the OP has indicated, it looks purposeful, not carelessness....

Does anyone know if this is still scheduled for the 0.8.0 release? It's becoming more and more necessary for successful downloads.

In the meantime does anyone have any suggestions for a work-around?

Partially in 0.7.9
But we're working on tackling even worse naming for the next release.
