SABnzbd not playing downloads on MacBook

Hi hope someone can help me with this. I'm very basic with computers.
I downloaded SABnzbd on my MacBook 2009.
I then registered with Easynews and then used Binsearch index to download 2 nzb files.
They appear to have downloaded on to SABnzbd successfully and moved from the Queue to History.
I can see them also in my Downloads.
But I can't work out how to open to play them. They are TV shows.
Can you tell me what I need to do?
TIA

SABnzbd does not *play* any content; SABnzbd only downloads it.
Use a video player to play TV shows. VLC is a great video player, also for OSX. See

I ended up downloading Mplayerx as it got good reviews.
But I still can't play my file.
The file is called - modern.family.s02e24.dvdrip.xvid-reward.sub
When I try to open if with MplayerX it says it can't open as it "can't find a proper file to play"
Any ideas on what I have done wrong and how to fix it?
I have spent hours watching tutorials and just can't work it out.
TIA

.sub? That is a subtitle file. Not a video file. Aren't there any video files downloaed? A video file ends with .avi, or .mkv, or ... And the video file is typically the biggest file in a download directory.
