Empty RSS Feed Question

I'm using nzbindex.nl for RSS feeds. I noticed a problem recently. I sometimes create custom RSS feeds that will match future TV show posts. For example, a new season of something is starting and I'll create a feed to match these shows prior to their being available and set SABnzbd to auto download new items. When the first item eventually shows up in the feed SABnzbd lists it, but doesn't download it (I have to manually download). I've checked the logs and found at every scheduled RSS read-out there is an entry stating that the feed is empty up until the point where the new item is available, but following this there's no explanation for why the item wasn't downloaded. To early to tell for sure if subsequent items download successfully, because so far when this has happened I've deleted the feed and recreated it, and of course when I do this SABnzbd doesn't see it as an empty feed.

Any thoughts?

Possibly SABnzbd considers the feed to be new until the first content is there.
Normally the first batch is not downloaded automatically to prevent downloading of a potentially large backlog.
Do you do your filtering at the server-side?

Nzbindex.nl has really good search based RSS feeds, so I generally set them up so I can accept everything at the SABnzbd level. If what you suggest is true I guess I'll just have to manually download the first item in a feed, or create the feed so that it matches at least one item right away.

Thanks for your response.

I'l check what happens internally.
First time is first time after all.

I'd appreciate that. Seems to me that at the time a feed is added, as long as it's a correctly formatted feed and was read correctly, it should be considered the "first batch" even if no content is present. Subsequent additions to the feed should be downloaded as usual.
