sabnzbd freezing

Version: 0.7.x (technically 0.7.3, but the UI displays 0.7.x)
OS: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Install-type: github repo (master branch)
Firewall Software: None
Are you using IPV6? No
Is the issue reproducible? Yes.. eventually

The issue is, sabzndb freezes while a download is in progress. I cannot access the website (it doesn't load). I would say 1 out of every 10-20 downloads causes sabnzbd to freeze. It doesn't freeze immediately after adding the download, but when I come back I sometimes find it frozen.

This is what is shown when I run ps aux | grep sabnzbd after it has frozen.

The most recent time it froze (tonight), there were 3 downloads. Two were pending and one was approximately 50% done. None had completed previous to that tonight. But, I have 4 downloads completed within the last few days that caused no issues.

I am running sabnzbd using the source code from github because this seems to increase the time between freezes. Before I was using the PPA repository and it seemed to freeze much more frequently.

This is the line I've put in /etc/rc.local to run sabnzbd at startup:

I also saved the log before I restarted to see what's recorded as it freezes. Here's the last few lines that I think are relevant. As you can see, the connections are eventually closed and that's the end of the log file until I restart sabnzbd.

Hard to diagnose.
Complete freezing suggest that the underlying Python + libraries have a problem.
(Or the hardware, but that's just a guess).

Anything I can try? All of the libraries are up-to-date.

A little more info...

I have sabnzbd running in Virtualbox. It's saving the files it downloads through a shared folder in virtualbox to drives on the host. The guest doesn't freeze when sabnzbd does - it's only sabnzbd that freezes. I don't think it has to do with virtualbox since it happens at strange times and saving files through the shared folders works fine.

I don't think it's the hardware as I had sabnzbd running with, I believe, Ubuntu 11.04 for a long time without any freezing.

I suppose I could try using 11.04 to see if the issues go away. Would that be a good way to go?

Not sure.
It could be the Python version. Different versions of Ubuntu have different default Python versions.
I think 12.04 has 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7. You can try explicit versions: try 2.5 first (called python25, I think).
As an illustration: on Windows we still work with 2.5, because later versions have a memory leak
that manifests itself after a few days of heavy downloading.

Well, I installed an Ubuntu 11.04 guest in Virtualbox and installed sabnzbd inside that. It has been up and running for about a week now and I haven't had any issues. Looks like it might of been an issue with 12.04 *knock on wood*.
