Newbie to newsgroups - Repair failed

Hello,

I'm a newbie to newsgroups and slowly working my way to understanding. Here are helpful details:

1.) Moutain Lion running SABnzdb 0.7.3 - Configured with SSL
2.) Paid for GigaNews - unlimited
3.) Paid for NZBMatrix

I tried to download 3 different movies from NZBMatrix by clicking on the NZB link, the hot folder is my Download and after 30 seconds the download begins, on average its 15-20 mins to finish around 9GB.

After it finishes it always says "Repair Failed, Not Enough Repair Blocks (x,xxx short)

The files stay in my Incomplete folder, there is an __ADMIN folder with some files, and a bunch of .part0x.rar and .par2 files

Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? 3 different movies also have same issue which is why I figured posted and get feedback.

Thanks

It's unfortunate, but it happens quite often.
Usenet providers often receive DMCA notifications.
Were there any comments on nzbmatrix?
Does the history entry of the failed job (click on it) show how many articles were missing?

Some remarks, on top of what Shypike says:

You can do a test download of something less hot, and thus no DMCA notifications & removals. For example: an Ubuntu image. See http://binsearch.info/index.php?q=ubunt ... &postdate= and choose an NZB. If that download goes well, it makes clear your setup is correct and working.

As of SABnzbd 0.7.x, SAB has a pre-download check option. It will check in a quick way if the post is "enough" available. The pre-download check is in Config -> Switched and is called "Check before download. Try to predict successful completion before actual download (slower!)". Turn that on, and SAB will try to predict the result of a download. It's not perfect, but it helps and it can avoid disappointments.

Furthermore: your question is a FAQ. See http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc30 for an elaborate explanation and some more tips.

Finally: there are a few ways you can see a download is NOT going well:
- hover your mouse above the download. It will tell how many articles are missing
- if SAB is progressing very fast through a download AND the speed indication is low (a few kB/s), it means the articles are missing
