my question/dilemma is this:
speedtest clocks my speed at between 20-23 Mbps
when i launch Sabnzbd it starts off at 2.7 MB/s
after 30 seconds or so i refresh and it drops down to 1.2 MB/s and stays there
Can anyone tell me how to keep it at 2.7 MB/s ?
All settings are on by default, i have not adjusted anything....my isp is roadrunner

THx!

You're in the USA?
Many providers have something called "PowerBoost" where they will give you a speed
advantage for the first burst of data on a new connection.
This is a way to fake advertised speeds.
It works OK for the average website and a small download, but not for sustained downloading
from Usenet or torrents.

One way to check.
When the speed drops, pause SABnzbd.
Wait 10 seconds and then resume again.
If you repeatedly get a high speed again in this way, you know your ISP is screwing you.

What's the speed when you download something big via HTTP? So for example http://mirror.ox.ac.uk/sites/releases.u ... p-i386.iso ?
