Invalid server adress

Post by stekre »

I'm having trouble downloading. I use ubuntu 12.04, sabnzbd+ 0.7.0 and supernews (news.eu.supernews.com, port 563).
My downloads work just occasionally, mostly at night it seems like. When I click test server I get "invalid server adress" when the downloads are not working, if they are working everything is ok. Any ideas?

I'm in Norway.. Fiber connection.
... Now it suddenly started downloading. "Connection successful" when I try test server.
This is strange.

Do they do any IP based filtering - if you have better success rate at night it sounds like ISP is doing some filtering. I asked to see if they are known for filtering

It's a very small company offering fiber connection in the capital only, so not much information to find. But I doubt they do any filtering, because IP filtering, download limits or similar is not very common in Norway.

Is there some way to check if my isp do filtering? I've tried traceroute and that find the server.

I would say that's a DNS / name resolving problem. So: what happens when you fill out 138.199.67.30 as the server address?

Disable the server with the name setting so that you only have the IP address server.

If that solves the problem, there is something wrong with your name resolving. That can be solved.

Just want to post my solution. Experienced the same problem today, and was led to my old post when googling.
The problem seems to be caused by an invalid DNS address. After setting the DNS address everything works fine.
