A Usenet/Bittorrent Mystery That I Need Solved. HELP!

OK, so here's what happened...

I downloaded a movie via Usenet (via nzb matrix and using SABnzbd) on Thursday. Today (Monday) I just now noticed that My Bittorrent client on that same machine had downloaded the same movie on Saturday while I wasn't home. Same movie, but different ripped version of the movie (the file name was different). I know for a fact that no one was home to do this. I'm the only one techie enough to understand it anyway! My router is password protected.

I do NOT download movies, or much else from BT anymore, to avoid notices from my ISP, so I'm a bit upset that this happened.

I am very puzzled as to how this could have happened! I have no scripts set up with SABnzbd. I doubt is was a script because the BT version downloaded over 2 days after the Usenet version did, and it's a different file of the movie. According to my BT client, which was mysteriously running front and center on this computer's screen when I noticed that this happened, had logged the file downloaded and was (gasp) uploading since Saturday night. I've checked browser histories and searched my computers have found no evidence of a .torrent file. The file was downloaded via the Pirate Bay, which I never use anyway.

So, what happened? Was my computer hacked? The only weird place that my mind goes to is the possibility that I'm being set up to get a notice from my ISP. Is that too dramatic to think? Would an ISP do this?

Any ideas that anyone has would be helpful. I'm pulling my hair out over this! If I get a notice from my ISP over this, I will NOT be happy!

First off, is Sab set up to use torrents? I'm not even sure if this is a feature. But check it. Also, do you use something like CouchPotato that can find torrents?

Might also try uninstalling your BT client as you don't use it anymore as a precation for future instances. Then run a test using the same steps you used for the last movie, on a new movie, and watch what happens.

SABnzbd has nothing to do with torrents.

I realize that. Hence, the mystery. I don't even have any scripts set up, or couch potato or anything.

I've downloaded other files since then and this has not happened anymore.

Theory #1: I'm thinking that maybe there was a hidden script in this NZB that triggered my BT client. I'm curious is anyone else has experienced downloading a script in an NZB that did something like this.

However, my BT client didn't download the 2nd copy of the movie until 2 days later, plus it wasn't even the same version of the movie. It has swedish subtitles embedded and a different file name. Which leads me to...

Theory #2: I'm still thinking someone got into my computer and did this. For what reason? I don't know. So, I've changed all my passwords. I dont want to completely delete my BT client, but I'm going to zip it up when I'm not using it, so it can't autostart without my knowledge.

I assume your BT client doesn't scan the whole harddrive for torrents?
SABnzbd doesn't execute any file type coming from a download.
You can erase any downloaded torrent file in the extension-based
clean-up in Config->General.

No, it only scans one folder, which is not the same as my NZB watch or download folder.

In that case it's out of the question that SABnzbd is involved.
