Slow Post-Processing transfer speeds to NAS

Hi there,
I have sabnzbd, sickbeard and couch potato all running on my Mac Mini. My movies and TV shows are stored on my Synology NAS. I have it setup so that my downloads are downloaded and extracted on the Mac Mini before being transferred automatically to the NAS (my NAS isn't powerful enough to run sabnzbd on).
I'm finding that I get slower transfer rates when automatic post-processing moves the files to their final location on the NAS, than if I manually drag and drop them using Finder. Using Finder, I get around 30MB/Sec (the NAS and Mac Mini are connected via Gigabit Ethernet). However, when sabtosickbeard.py runs, I find I only get around 60% of this speed - around 20MB/Sec. I'm really baffled by it. Is is due to python not being as quick as Mac OS's Finder?
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Cheers
