completed my first SABnzbd + Sickbeard setup

Post by techead »

Hi there

Im running the latest version of SABnzbd (0.6.15) and the latest version of Sickbeard (build 494) both installed on a Windows 7 Home 64 bit environment

Everything is working, and I have managed to rename all my tv series, added my current shows, added new shows and its all working. Brilliant setup, Im most impressed.

I just got told that apparently you can setup your box to receive NZB's direct via email? How does that work? So for example I could be at work and email a NZB and somehow it will make its way from the email to the "watched folder" and then download it. Is that possible?? ??? I did search and I found one old thread from 2008 but that was only python based, and didnt look active at all :(

and maybe slightly OT, but Im using nzbmatrix and astraweb. Are both those providers ok?

Cheers

Sabnzbd has the option to scan a directory for .nzb files: http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-directories-v2
It's called 'Watched Folder' in the configuration.
It could be possible to write an email-client that just downloads attachments, probably what you found.

Alternatively you could use an imap mail client (set up to automatically download attachments, eg mozilla thunderbird) you could easily make such a setup.
However, if you are allowed to use any cloud based storage (like dropbox) it could be much easier, especially if you're on Windows.
And you would not have the risks that email-attachments bring with them.

thank you for the reply, I appreciate it.

yes Im aware of the "watched folder" :)

I see dropbox is definitely an option, I was also told now that I could use https://www.sugarsync.com/

which one do you think looks better?

I only have experience with Dropbox on addition to my own solutions.

In your case I'd certainly check out sugarsync. Comparison: https://www.sugarsync.com/sync_comparison.html
That shows it has the option to sync through email.
I did a quick search and it seems you'll get a special email address where you can mail your attachments to, which are automatically synced across devices.

To me that sounds exactly like what you're looking for.
