Huge speed drop - No set-up changes

Hi, not sure if I should of tacked onto the end of someone else's thread or start my own.

I have cable broadband and as you can see by my speedtest.net results my download speed should be pretty quick. As a benchmark test I used a Windows8 2.5G download from this site (http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/20 ... oday!.aspx) using IDM as my download manager. The results were as follows;

I tried a download of something using SABNZBD (via NZBMatrix) and the results back on the 1st of March were as follows;

My speeds when downloading now are averaging at 1.1Mb/s. I haven't changed any settings aside from updating SABNZBD.

1. Is there a benchmark download using NZBMatrix that will show a true reflection of what my speeds should be?
2. Are there any known issues with Astraweb at the moment? (google doesn't show anything).
3. Can I tweak the settings somehow?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, DW.

Settings as follows;
Version: 0.6.15 Final
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32B
Install-type: Windows Installer
Skin: Plush
Firewall Software: Eset NOD32
Are you using IPV6?: most likely no
Is the issue reproducible? Que?

How many connections how you setup to Astraweb?
Are all downloads now at 1.1 MB/s, or just certain downloads?

As a benchmark, you can use another news download program. On Windows, you could try Grabit.

Be sure to check the high speed downloading section on the wiki for some useful advice, especially about using a memory cache.

Your benchmarks give download speeds from local sites (for speedtest it's obvious, and what appears to be a microsoft subdomain is actually hosted by akamai), while usenet providers like yours (astraweb) usually have their servers in the United States and the Netherlands. That means the high volume usenet traffic has to cope with limited and/or expensive capacity on the links from oz to the rest of the planet, and also turns it into a prime target for isp throttling and traffic shaping. Nzbmatrix isn't a factor in your download speed, they only provide the nzb file.

I can confirm slower speeds using Astraweb (ngroups.net to be precise) on a UPC (Netherlands) line.
Using my backup usenet provider gives me my full speed, so it's got nothing to do with sab.

I'm not 100% sure if SABnzbd is involved or not.
But I can confirm that the behaviour of Astraweb varies wildly per day.

Thanks for everyone's help. Uninstalled and reinstalled SABNZBD and things seem to have picked up again. Could be Astraweb as well, not sure.
