Connection error - invalid server and resolving address

Post by TheW0ndaKid »

Hi All,

I have Sab 0.6.15 installed on my Synology DS409 and everything has been fine until today I've added stuff to the queue and its just sitting there, no connections, no activity. The connections tab shows "# of connections Resolving Address" so I figured it must be an outage and tried to add another server, every time I try this it comes back telling me the server is invalid! I've triple checked the details from my provider and they are correct. Its not an outage with the provider as I can ping the service.

To make matters worse I've installed the windows version of Sab on a laptop which is on the same LAN as the Synology and added a server, this works fine straight off the bat no messing about.

I've restarted Sab, rebooted the NAS, rebooted the router and nothing seems to work.

There appear to be other people out there with the same issue but no real solution yet.

Any help would be great as I really dont want to have to keep firing up the laptop everytime I need to download anything

Can you ping the newsserver from the Synology? So: open a ssh session to the synology, and then try to ping the newsserver.

yep, pings just fine. Plus the laptop on the same LAN is using the same DNS and gateway and that work fine

On the synology, can you "telnet news.xs4all.nl nntp" ?
