Thanks. It's bizarre though that all of a sudden I come across 7 files like this. They are all from different posters though aren't they?
How do I ensure that what I am downloading is not encrypted?

It's in the best interest of this poster not to make his posts attributable to him,
otherwise they would be too easy to spot.
Besides, the posters probably get some money from the password website.
The poster counts on you not wanting to have wasted your time and download quota.

Watch carefully on index sites. Some show warnings, others have user comments.
SABnzbd has an option to detect encrypted RAR files, but unfortunately it doesn't work for these posts.
I will look into that too.

OK, I also know why SABnzbd's encryption detector doesn't work.
The encrypted RAR file is packed into RAR segment files.
That means the encryption can only be detected AFTER everything is downloaded.
If SABnzbd would support it, it would unpack the RAR file and only then find out that the main RAR was encrypted.
So you see, the poster did an extra effort to prevent detection.
