Do this:

- connect your computer to another Internet connection (other ISP, other modem), and check the max downloadspeed
- connect a fresh, clean computer (you could live-boot Ubuntu) to your own Internet connection, and check the max downloadspeed

That way you can find out by deduction / reduction / induction  ;) what is causing the low speed.

Oh, BTW, you're not using Wifi, I hope? If so, first test is to use a wired connection.

If you download the itunes software what sort of speed do you get?

(always find that fills my line and it's a similar speed)

SAB gives me about 450KB/s btw

Have you got some anti-virus software or firewall software that could be interfering with it? Also I assume you have the necessary ports forwarded in your router.

Some ISP thottle bandwidth on port 119, check if you can set up port 80 as connection and then see what your dl speed will be.
Gignews.com i.e will let you connect via port 80-

Btw, earlier I used hellanzb. For some reasson I suddenly experianced slow downloads. Tried all kinds of setting without luck.
The one thing that got me to full speed was uninstalling hellanzb and make a fresh install. Worked perfectly after that. Might be worth doing as last resort also for SABnzbd.

Sometimes it's helpful to clean your queue.
It should not be necessary, but it seems to happen sometimes that things get slow.
Starting SABnzbd once with the --clean parameter will clear the queue.
Also, sometimes the speed seems slow because SABnzbd is working on a job
that's not present on the Usenet server.
Do the alternative programs run faster with the same NZB files?
