SABnzbd won't start, re-installing doesn't fix (Windows)

Did you look at the content of the sabnzbd.ini file?
How does it look?

I am having the same issue on a windows 8 machine, I think because turned off by power switch without properly shutting down. The message I get is:

SABnzbd.exe 0.7.16




SABnzbd detected a fatal error:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SABnzbd\sabnzbd.ini" is not a valid configuration file
Error message: Invalid line at line "1".

Specify a correct file or delete this file.

Program did not start!


I tried deleting the ini file, replacing with a renamed ini.bak file ( although that appeared to be empty) and a complete re install from scratch but just get the same message every time.

Any help much appreciated.

Remove the file C:\Program Files (x86)\SABnzbd\sabnzbd.ini and anything like it.
There's a backward compatibility in SABnzbd that supports INI files in the program folder.
Don't use it. The INI file should be in the user profile.

Thanks shypike. I got it working by deleting sabnzbd*.* on the computer ( after uninstall quite a lot of files in places I don't understand) and then re-installing and all good now. Thanks again for your help.

Post the first lines of "C:\Users\Room\AppData\Local\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.ini"

It should look like this:

If it doesn't, something bad is going on. To avoid deleting & setting up it again each time, do this:
delete sabnzbd.ini
Start SABnzbd and fill out everything that is needed.
Then manually make a backup of sabnzbd.ini to sabnzbd.ini.good, and use that file once your sabnzbd.ini gets corrupt
