Post by partyfart »

I have a QNAP 219P II with Sabnzb versie 0.7.20.
And a internet line from Ziggo (netherlands) of 200/20.

The max i get with Sabnzb is 1.2MB/s.
See Image
Mij ISP line is fast:

Anyone with some Sabnzb settings which will speed up Sabnzb?
I have a supernews account, and i download with SSL and max 30 connections. Article buffer size is 70.
Anyone a tip?

Your QNAP is overloaded: see its CPU load in the upper right corner: 5.13. I suppose your QNAP feels slow too?
On a non-overloaded systeme these values will be well below 1.00.

So: find out what is overloading your QNAP. It might be SABnzbd itself: your QNAP 219P II only has 512MB RAM and some ARM CPU, so low-spec hardware.

Find out the available pystone specs of your QNAP: in SABnzbd, under Status, set SABnzbd's logging to +Debug, restart SABnzbd, click on Show Logging, and find a line like this:

Code: Select all

CPU Pystone available performance is 83028
Post that line here.

Furthermore: I would lower to number of connections to 6 or so.

BTW1: "1.2MB/s." = 12 Mbps.
BTW2: To avoid double posting, I've removed your Dutch post

Only SABnzb is using the QNAP right now. Python is using 30% in the process screen. No other, see:

Debug is running, this is the line from the log:
2015-03-04 15:51:13,727::DEBUG::[SABnzbd:1306] CPU Pystone available performance is 6666

And why lower the connections? Will this bring up the speed?

6666? That's horribly slow. Only a bit better that the Raspi.

A current laptop has a pystone of at least 100.000. So 15 times faster.

So don't expect too great performance by this NAS. And 12 Mbps isn't too bad, is it?

Are there any settings in SABnzb which i can tweak to get more speed? I read somewhere changing the buffer size, etc...?

I don't know ... apart from the low number of connections. What was the result of that?

Maybe someone else.

Lowering connections from 30 to 10 doesn't change the speed. The funny thing is, months ago i got this:

Maybe the QNAP software changed and causes this speed downgrade...

No thanks, thank you for the advice. I rather use SSL but speed is more important right now.
