So I'm obviously doing something wrong here.
I have set up Sabnzbd 0.7.2 and Sickbeard 503 on a Windows 8.1.
I have set the download folder to Network drive Y: and my Tv show folder to network drive Z: (seperate shares on same NAS).
I have sabtosickbeard set up as well.
Many of this has perhaps to do with my lack of understanding usenet, but I set to manually search a show, it gives me a snatched thingy and I see some action on SABnzbd side. In the Queue I see a progress bar and its marking up to 800+ MB. Then it drops into history with some repair info, and sometimes back up to queue. In the end it says running SabToSickbeard.exe.
I end up with a small .nfo file put into my TV show folder, not renamed according to the show or anything just the long web-dl.dd5.1.blabla version of the name.
So where should I put the blame and start searching for a answer, is this a config problem in Sickbeard, SABnzbd or just bad indexers?

An indexer problem is the most likely.
You can set an NZB backup folder in Config->folders
That way you can inspect one or more of the NZB files
by loading them again in paused mode.
Click on a job title in the queue to see which files should be downloaded.

Re: Sabnzbd+ and Sicbeard, ending up with small .nfo files
Thank you, yes I've been successful in another attempts. Perhaps its also ok to have the completed folder be elsewhere then the normal TV folder because SabToSickbeard moves it. So when it lands on a file it can't handle it ends up there right?
I however had another more serious problem I have no idea how happened. Noticed in sickbeard that for one show the folder was marked missing.
Looking in the NAS confirmed that it was gone, but why and where to. I did not find it in the NAS recycle bin, nor did a search for keywords yield any success. It was a show I had before sickbeard but had added it to it and already fetched 2 missing episodes. But now its just totally gone.
Does anyone have any suspicion what might be going on? Perhaps I should start a new thread for this new problem.
I guess this is not related to SABnzbd, perhaps to sickbeard but could not be sure. The showname has a ' in it, could it be some sort of linux mapping issue. (would be strange as it worked fine for a few years).

Re: Sabnzbd+ and Sicbeard, ending up with small .nfo files
For the "missing" item: where does SABnzbd's history entry say it was stored?
Click on the item to see the details.
I don't quite get the first question, but each category can have its own folder.

Re: Sabnzbd+ and Sicbeard, ending up with small .nfo files
The log for the item in SABnzbd says it was stored inside the "main tv"/"specific show folder" and this is correct because I found them there and moved them into the specific season folders. I then fixed the naming in sickbeard to ensure future episodes ended in the correct season folders.
I simply to not understand what could have happened here. I doubt sickbeard renamed them for any reason because then he would have the updated location on file. I did have a router reset issue during some fixing. Could it be stuck in some sort of file naming limbo?
The other question pertained to why the bad downloads ended up in my TV folder. I have a specific incomplete/complete locations aside from the dedicated TV folders. I'm guessing in the Config categories for TV I shouldn't set the final dedicated TV folder destination because that is what probably happened, not sure though. How does SabToSickbeard handle it when he can't post process a item properly? Does he still move it to a the root TV folder?

Re: Sabnzbd+ and Sicbeard, ending up with small .nfo files
I don't know how SickBeard works.
SABnzbd stores files where it says it does,
assuming no bugs.
