Repair Failed, Download Might Fail... But with a Twist...

Post by AFitchguy07 »

To start off, I am new with USENET. A buddy of mine has been a user for many years. My system and settings were set up identical to his with a few exceptions being in the renamer of CP and I use a script in SB. I was having issues with a number of download failures resulting in errors such as "Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (### short)" and "Download might fail, only ##.#% of required 100.2% available." We have the same paid search providers and the same servers.

As my buddy has used for many years, I go to him for help. We compare some things and do a few tests. I have him DL the same NZB that I had errors with. He gives it a whirl and believe it or not, his is successful. So now we're confused. Most of my research involves people with this issue, but none that I have seen have one person with errors and the other complete it successfully. I suppose that's the twist here...

I've spent the better part of my vacation and past few days non-stop research on how to get this issue resolved w/o much luck. I am open, at this point, to any suggestions anyone has to offer up at this point. If anyone is curious about any settings, let me know.

One things comes to my mind.
Was this a very recent post?
We've seen that Usenet servers need time to sync with other servers.
Sometimes a bit of waiting is needed and a retry is needed.

Hi shypike
Thanks for your quick reply, the movie I tried to download last night was the 3D version of Jurassic Park (15.05GB) which was posted on Oznzb in April 2013,a retry did not work, I have not been able to download a 3D movie at all ever, I always get Repair failed Not enough repair blocks, I wonder if it could have something to do with my Server or Usenet Provider as you suggested and if so how would I fix it.

If your friend is using the same Usenet provider and can download the same NZB
then the Usenet provider isn't the problem.
I suggest you try an alternative program like Grabit.

rootsey333, your problem is different than AFitchguy07's problem. Your problem is DMCA removal. Do a search for DMCA on the forums and you will find lots of information. The short answer is you need a block account as a backup.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. Even though we can't find a reason as to why we yield different results with same identical setup, I just added a dutch block account to mine as backup and that seems to be working wonderfully for a week now.

I'll consider this a "workaround" solution. It's good enough for me.

Thanks again, Shypike!
