Dumper - Encrypted streaming NZBs in 50 characters

Post by dumper »

Hi all,

We've put up Dumper, and we're looking for public comments on the specification.

Essentially it's a method to remove the need to host NZB files. It also allows for streaming NZBs, where the original poster can add to the files weeks or months later, and clients with the original key can pick them up automatically.

All files are encrypted by default, and there's no way to know what's being posted without the key.

Please let me know what you think!

Edit: Don't get too excited! There's no software yet. We're just checking that it's worth building.

Some remarks:

what problem does it solve?
What is the difference with a unique search code like iaodjsfojadoifjioajdoifjoiads, which post is (or is not) encrypted?
Is there any single point of failure in your setup? The power of Usenet is there is no SPoF ...
