Cache folder location

Post by bagman6089 »

Hiya,

I'm running SABnzbd 0.6.5 on a QNAP. Doing a little bit of house keeping to keep things organised and came across something I wasn't sure what it was...

I have the folder structure as follows:

/Download/sabnzbd/cache
/Download/sabnzbd/complete
/Download/sabnzbd/incomplete
/Download/sabnzbd/logs
/Download/sabnzbd/nzb
/Download/sabnzbd/temp

I get what all the folders relate to from a config perspective...except for the cache folder. And its sitting at around 9GB in size comprising of a large number of small files all of which were created years ago. My question therefore is, what are they? What are the consequences if I delete the whole folder and recreate it (easier than deleting files in bulk)?

Cache is obsolete since 0.6.0
0.6.5 may still create it.
BTW: your quite a few versions behind.

Thanks for the response shypike.

I was assuming I was on the latest version as I'd just recently updated - via the app center feature on the QNAP. After a bit of digging I found http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=133&t=86644 which seems like its updated fairly regularly and i've bookmarked it as such....now running 0.7.17 so thanks for pointing this out!

If I look in my ini file I can still see a reference to the cache location but I'm guessing it's a legacy hangover from upgrading through various versions. I renamed the cache folder and did a restart to see if it would create a new cache folder once it found it was missing but it didn't, so I guess its happy without and I can reclaim my 9GB of space now :-)

Thanks for the assist!
