Unable to connect to any news server with sabnzbd.

Post by nofx1510 »

I started a thread over on reddit but I will repost what I posted there: http://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments ... h_sabnzbd/

2 Nights ago sabnzbd stopped connecting to any of my servers, both my backup and my primary server are up and working for other users but I am unable to connect. My accounts are in good standing with both sites also. From the problem machine I am able to connect to the usenet ports, 563, 80, 8080, 119, 443, etc over telnet so I know my ISP isn't flat out blocking those ports and I know I have a valid connection path to these servers. It's not a dns resolution issue of any kind either. I have restarted sabnzbd, the machine, my home router, turned off the firewall, disabled ipv6 and I am still having the issue. Other users have seemed to run into this issue also per the reddit post I made.

Version: 0.7.17
OS: Windows 7
Install-Type: Windows Installer
Skin: Default
Firewall Software: None
Are you using IPv6: No
Is this issue reproducible: Yes, from both other users and I have tested on a separate machine on my network that had a fresh sabnzbd install.

Error in question: Connections: Failed to connect: (10060, "(10060, 'Operation timed out')") 5@news.tweaknews.eu:563

virusscanner and/or firewall?

Advice: remove and deinstall virusscanner and firewall, reboot, try again.
Please note: "de-activating" virusscanner / firewall is not enough.

There is no anti virus installed and I can't uninstall the windows firewall, the best I can do is turn it off.

OK, so a virusscanner can't be the problem.
The "windows firewall": is that the Microsoft FW? And yes, try if turning it off helps.

If you have another NZB-downloader installed on your Windows system? If so, does that work with the same settings?

Do you have other computer on the same LAN? If so: does SABnzbd work on that computer?

It looks like my ISP is blocking some ports but not others. I was able to get it working with a different nzb-downloader and then copied over the settings and it is now working sabnzbd. Thanks for the help.

If i may, I am having similar problems.

I am using a know good news server, i can ping the server. But when i press test on Sabnzbd it keeps telling me connection terminated by peer. So i took the system to a friends house and it work perfectly. Now i am at the point where it can only be my ISP or Netgear router. Dous anybody have an idea what the problem could be?
