Downloads not completing one way or another

Last few days I've noticed a strange phenomena where downloads get to the end and stop without continuing on to processing. Then SAB starts on the next item, it gets to the end, stops and so forth. When I get home from work or when I get up in the morning, I pause for 5 minutes and when it starts up it kicks each one down to processing, but I shouldn't have to do that right?

I did just recently add free.xsusenet.com as a backup server, but i'm not sure why that would be an issue.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Check the retries setting in Config->Switches.
It should be 3 or higher.
Did you add the server a backup or primary?
Which SABnzbd version do you use?

retries was 3, i just set it to 5

i added the xsusenet server as a backup

using v 0.7.16 for mac

There are some situations where job hang-ups can occur.
Mostly caused by servers not answering when they don't have an article.
Increasing retries will make it worse, when the timeout is too short.
Do any of the stalled items still have partial files waiting?
Click on the job name.

You can force post-processing by setting the priority to "Stop".

thank shypike for the info. i increased max retries to 10 and now they seem to be moving through but now i'm getting alot of "unusable rar file" errors. i downloaded rar 5.01 for mac as others have suggested but i have no idea where to put it/how to install it.
