Sorry for the noob post but I'm getting started with a HTPC and want to know what type of mem/cpu resources sabnzbd uses. I want a setup that runs sabnzbd, couchpotato, sickbeard, maybe headphones, and plex (or XBMC) for viewing my media in my living room. I did a dry run of this setup on my OLD PC just to see everything work. It was of course slow as that was an old AMD Athlon with 2GB.
For the new HTPC I plan to run linux (probably Ubuntu) and was thinking of the following main specs:
- i5 2.9GHz quad core
- 4gb ram (should I get 8?)
- SSD HD
I want 1080p video to play flawlessly while these programs are running/downloading. I would prefer to have just one box, not a downloading box and a HTPC. Do you think thats a sufficient setup for that?
Apologies in advance if this has been discussed in other threads or should be on another forum.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

What is the final destination for media files, the SSD?
Two separate disks might be advisable.
Make sure that you're not playing media files from the same drive that you use to repair files.
(So "incomplete" and "complete" on different disks).

No, I would have a 2nd HD to store the media. A 2TB or 4TB drive. My SSD would be 120GB. So maybe I should have my temp folders on the SSD, then my complete folder on the media drive? That makes sense, so if I'm playing media, there aren't too many other read/writes going on at the same time.

Just a remark about playing content: If you have got a "smart TV", so with an ethernet connection, you might just share content via DLNA. Probably easier and more user friendly.
On Ubuntu you could use "miniDLNA"

No Smart TV, bought my samsung plasma just before they started getting "smart". 
Also FYI, I'm thinking of switching the CPU for a AMD A8-6500 Richland 4.1GHz since it has the integrated GPU and its cheaper.
But its still quadcore so hoping it would do as well.

OK, clear. Pity.
About GPU: I personally only buy Intel GPU because their drivers are completely open source. Intel GPU's are capable enough of playing video content.
