SabNZBD 0.4.5
Windows Vista Ultimate 32
Hi Forum,
while downloading I often get this messages:
Connecting9@news.giganes.com:119 failed, message=502 (remote) (aud:gn:username) exceeded maximum numbers of connections per user
I have 10 simultaneous connections configured in the server option and this is the number I aallowed to use.
Even if I lower the number to 5 in SabNZBd, I get this message usually for connection # 2,4,5 and 9
I do not have reconnects with my cable connection, at least not too often.. And I do not use another usenet client in the same time.
Any suggestions?

Re: exceeding maximum numbers of connections per user
Does this usually happen when adding stuff to a recently empty queue?
Try release 0.4.6RC2 as it has some fixes in this regard that may help.
Specifically turn "Disconnect on empty queue" off.

Re: exceeding maximum numbers of connections per user
it happens all the time, even with a "full" queue.
But I guess I will try RC2 in the next few days...
Thx for help

Re: exceeding maximum numbers of connections per user
The new fixes will not help against drop-outs on your ISP connection.
The fix consists of sending the (optional) "quit" command to the news server when
SABnzbd wants to disconnect. Servers are supposed to detect a broken connection
but do not always do so. That's the reason SABnzbd will now send a QUIT command
before breaking the connection.
When the ISP breaks the connections, it's not possible to send the QUIT command anymore
and the news server may not realize the broken connection (at least not before some
hefty timeout).
BTW, remember to always the server timeout recommended by the news server.
