Report ID Prefix

Post by JohnGoodie »

I've been trying to figure out how to sort all of my NZB downloads.  I use the blackhole method and windows xp.  This works great except(as a few others have posted also) it doesn't get categories from newzbin as that isn't stored in the NZB.  I'm too lazy to go into the queue and set categories.  So I read you can set the category by prefix but I can't find a way that works for me to add that automatically to the filename.

Newzbin allows you to turn on report ID prefix.  Would there be a way to have sabnzbd grab the category from the report id - blah blah blah.nzb and just clear off the report id for the folder name but read that prefix and grab the info from newzbin?

It would sure make automatic sorting a breeze that way. I hope that made some kind of sense LOL.  If not feel free to ask questions about this idea. Anyway thanks for everything you guys do!

On the Home page of Sabnzbd, just give Sabnzbd the Newzbin report ID.
Sabnzbd will then download the nzb and set the catagories.

All you need to do is put your newzbin details in the sabnzbd config.

I THINK this answers your question  :)

Sorry, I know how to do that.  I want this to be automated.  right now when I download an nzb it dumps it automatically into the nzb blackhole folder.  If I turn on Report ID prefix setting on newzbin.  It would be nice if Sabnzbd could tell this and grab info from that.  Thanks!

Hi,

You have 2 solutions :

- Use nzbdstatus extension with firefox. Just configure settings and click on the report on the sab icon.
- or use newzbin bookmark, go to sabnzbd newzbin config page and check "Auto Fetch Bookmarks" and click "Get Bookmarks now" to download all your bookmarked nzb in your Newzbin account.

Hope it helps.

Instead of you manually downloading a nzb from newbin, why not let Sabnzbd do it?
To be honest, how would Sabnzbd know you've downloaded the nzb from Newzbin and not some other site?
Also, TTBOMK, the nzb doesn't include the Newzbin report ID so Sabnzbd wouldn't know where to go looking for the catagory anyway.

Unless I'm missing something  ;)

I didn't know this newzbin option existed, interesting.
But like the previous poster said, maybe it goes a bit too far to assume that
an NZB file starting with 7 digits is coming from newzbin.
I'll give it some thought.

Thanks shypike.  I was kind of thinking the same thing... but then thought how many nzbs would use that same reportid naming scheme ... and if it was off by default i think it wouldn't create too many problems but it could i suppose, anyways thanks for the consideration!!!

Sorry, I was missing something. I didn't know Newbin would do that  :-[ That would give Sabnzbd the report ID but it still wouldn't know for sure that the report came from Newzbin.

You could only assume and as my Dad used to say "If you assume, then it only makes an ASS out of U and ME"  ;D
